Evelyn L. Smith writes from the Susquehanna Valley where she spends much of her time, spare or otherwise, noticing the birds.

Evelyn grew up in Riverdale, Maryland and studied philosophy at the University of Southern Maine. Her writing has appeared in Big Whoopie Deal, Passenger’s Journal, and the Bangalore Review. She was recently shortlisted for the CRAFT 2024 Novelette Prize. She’s a recipient of a grant from the Maine Arts Commission (an independent state agency supported by the National Endowment for the Arts) and a Dibner Fellowship from the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance, both in support of her first, unpublished novel.
